You know I love food right and from all indications, am not alone, my posts on food generates more traffic , also there is continue increase in fast food operators ,apart from the known ones (Sweet sensation, Tantalizers, Mr Biggs, Mama Cass) and many more still joining. I can safely conclude that Nigerians love food and good food at that.
Those who saw the need have also taken the lead by going a step further to deliver delicious meals to the comfort of people's homes and offices. One of them is Yummie Delite, who shared with me their experiences and challenges in running a fast meal delivery Outfit.
Intro: M C Christy, but from May 1st 2015 will be officially known as Yummie Delite. It is a fast meal delivery outlet based in surulere. They serve delicacies such as Basmati Rice, Noodles and Spaghetti with accompaniments of Snail, Seafood Mix, Shrimps, Croaker Fish, King Prawns, Goatmeat, Catfish, Chicken, Sausage, Grandma(with Dry fish n Red oil) etc. If you are not salivating yet, Then you don't have a throat. It is run by two young entrepreneurs, Master Etuk Akanimoh and Miss Samali Christiana. Background: Both entrepreneurs have preciously worked in different hospitality industries within lagos environs especially Victoria Island and Lekki . They actually met in the industry.
Major Challenge faced so far: A fire incident in the early morning of 25th February 2014, everything was completely razed except a generator set and a cooking cylinder. Their zeal, detremination and God's grace made them reopened the following Monday 3rd March 2014 to the surprise of clients, family and friends.
Today Yummie delite has a client base of almost 1500 clients and still growing. They have the following advice for other entrepreneurs:
1)Have a VISION before PROVISION, most people look for Provision before having a vision which causes failure on arrival.
2)STUDY:most people venture into a business without studying the industry, the ins and outs.
3)RESEARCH: Research whatever venture you are going into
4)TARGET: Know what and who are your targeted audience? You can't serve everybody.
5)BE UNIQUE and CREATIVE:Even if you have to copy others, tweak it in a way that's unique to you.
6)PLAN: Have a plan A and Plan B, and know especially the financial implications for start ups.
7)Be CONSISTENT and FOCUS in whatever you are offering.
9)Your Product and Yourself should be MARKETABLE. Understand people always crave for quality no matter where they find it.

Final words: The market is a large place to accommodate us all, don't follow the crowd, be consistent and diligent and watch the crowd follow you.
