Wedding Souvenir diy: Tinted Lip sticks and Pink lip balms

 These lip colors are currently favorites among wedding guests, who Wouldn't  Love Lip sticks or lip colors especially when they come in different colors? 
These colorful labelled lip balm souvenirs will make your guests delighted 


 Lip stick essentials : To make Lip sticks , the following are essential ingredients, examples are given and you can use any of the product desired:

Oils : Almond oil, Peppermint oil, Strawberry oil, coconut oil, Hempseed oil, jojoba oil, avocado oil. 

Oil in lipstick are useful for  moisturisation, help to  provide a barrier against weather and also mix with the waxes to form a smooth, spreadable mixture. In choosing the oil, choose a oil that is readily available and appealing to guests. The oils also give the lip balms their exotic fragrance. 

Butters: Shea Butter, Cocoa butter, Mango butter
Butters are useful  for moisturizing lips, help protect and make a stable mixture that is solid at room temperature yet glides and melts on the lips. Though large cosmetic companies skip hem as sometimes they crystallizes  and form bumps in the final products. Also they contain fatty acids that can cause lipsticks to expire on time. But for home made lipsticks, they are great as they make the product more effective.

Wax: Bees wax, petroleum wax, candle wax, crayon wax,  
Waxes are used to help provide a barrier against the elements, seal moisture in the lips and keep color on your lips. Waxes also help to provide shape and form to the lipstick mixture.

Colors: Food coloring, colors  or Obtained from old lip sticks or from natural organic products such as Cinnamon (Brown), chocolate (Dark brown), Turmeric (Reddish brown), Honey, Aloe vera ( clear ), strawberries (Pink), Blue berries( lilac/purple)

Tools:
A heating apparatus: Double boiler or candle heat or microwave 
Spoon
Knife
Measuring scale and spoons
Lip stick containers or tubes


Lip stick recipe
1. Cut off a small chunk of lipstick(s)
2. Mix with petroleum jelly/lip balm in a spoon 
3.  Melt over  candle heat
4. Stir the colors together 
5.Pour into a small container  or old lip stick tube and let it cool! 

Lip balm recipe


1 .  Add 1 tbsp petroleum jelly or beeswax, 1/2 tbsp olive oil, 
1/2 tbsp sweet almond oil 1/2 tbsp honey and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional) into a bowl 

2. Melt all the ingredients together in a  double boiler pan or microwave
3. Pour the mixture into a container. 


You can easily substitute any of the wax, oil, fragrance, color for the product of your choice. 

Tips for making lip colors:

1. Petroleum jelly can just be used in addition to other colors to achieve different colors or make a lighter shade of a dark lip stick color.
 mixing with petroleum jelly = making a tinted lip balm. Mixing without petroleum jelly = a new lipstick shade
2. To achieve pink lip stains,mash strawberries, blueberries or tumeric and add to your lip balm product, also add almond oil. 
3. You can also try making a pink lip scrub using Brown sugar, cinnamon and olive oil
